Sarah Kendis was born and raised in Beachwood, Ohio where she was a student of Danna Sundet.  After completing her undergraduate degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music as a student of Mark Ostoich, she went on to pursue her graduate work at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, where she studied with Cynthia DeAlmeida, principal oboist of the Pittsburgh Symphony.

Active as a freelancer in the Pittsburgh area, Sarah was also a member of the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra in Ithaca, New York from 2013-2015.  Other recent performances have included concerts with the Rochester Philharmonic, Erie Philharmonic, York Symphony, Canton Symphony, and New World Symphony.  She has also participated in a variety of music festivals, including the Aspen Music Festival and School, Kent/Blossom Music Festival, National Orchestral Institute, Sarasota Music Festival, Texas Music Festival, and the Festival-Institute at Round Top, Texas.  

In addition to performing, Sarah is busy as a teacher and reedmaker.  She teaches at the PYCO School of Music and maintains a private studio as well.  She is also one half of the Squirrel Hill Reed Shop, which sells handmade oboe and English horn reeds and processed cane.
